Every week we get requests for information about our island home. Here are some recommendations. The recommendations below have not been solicited, we do not take commissions. We do not recommend any establishments we have not visited, or used. These are our personal choices, you can find more dining choices at www.caymanrestaurants.com

Many of these recommendations have their own Facebook pages. Not all have a website, but you can find their phone numbers in the Cayman Islands Yellow Pages

Where to Stay:

Grand Cayman has a variety of hotel chains, the Ritz Carlton, the Westin, the Marriot, Comfort Suites etc. We also have scores of condos with short term rentals SW recommends a small “suites” hotel which is independently owned , off Seven Mile Beach, Sunshine Suites. Recently I paid a visit to Cobalt Coast to look at their brand new penthouse suite, the Mermaid Suite. I was so impressed, I wanted to stay there myself! I love Cobalt Coast Dive Resort and so will you. We have paired up to offer a great wedding and accommodation package, so contact them here.

Where to Eat:

We are “foodies”, we like to cook, and we like to eat out. Fortunately, Grand Cayman has a plethora of amazing restaurants. Here are our favourites

SW recommends Edoardos’” in Coconut Place, George Town (near the Ritz Carlton)

We love sushi, and SW recommends the best sushi on this side of the world “ Yoshi Sushi” which is opposite the Westin in The Falls Shopping Plaza

We do a lot of weddings at the Wharf’s private beach, and this restaurant in George Town is one of our favourites SW recommends "The Wharf Restaurant". Make sure you're there at 9 pm for their nightly feeding of the tarpon.

SW recommends Michael's Genuine Food and Drink in Camana Bay ( Joy's favourite is the Pig's Ear Salad!) Also the BEST beer selection in the Cayman Islands! You can find Michael's on "Open Table". Don't forget the island's stand-out favourite for a romantic ocean-side dinner, and a great patio for your wedding or wedding reception at Casanova's

We have LOTS of great coffe-shops, my favourite is "Perk-Up" in Governor's Square, opposite Governor's Beach

SW recommends JET nightclub, near Piazza Hut on Seven Mile Beach road

Where the locals go:

“My Bar” at the Sunset House Diving Lodge on South Church Street

The Royal Palms beach bar on Seven Mile Beach, opposite the pink (West Shore) mall.

For local food, if you are in the eastern district, Miss Vivene’s Kitchen

What to do with kids:

SW recommends: Governor’s Beach, Smith’s Cove, Cemetery Beach all good places to swim with gently sloping sand, and clear water

SW recommends Kids Zone in George Town and Smyles (next to Dunkin Donuts) are safe affordable places to leave your kids for a few hours

SW recommends the Pirates Caves in Bodden Town (not for visitors with mobility issues)

SW recommends, Pedro St James’s Castle, in Savannah, make sure you see the video
